Blog Post for 2/26

This week on the blog, you'll be working on essentially another version of what you did on the quiz. While looking through your Lewis reading, I want you to trace a word throughout the text. Find every instance you can (I believe the PDF is searchable) in those first few pages, compile a list of them, and then put an argument forward which posits 1) the word's denotation, 2) the word's connotation, 3) what the frequency or scarcity of the word tells you, 4) why Lewis is using that word, and 5) some analysis of your own.

Rules:

  • Your 500 words must come from your argument, not your list of instances.
  • You must each use a different word. First person to publish on that word gets it.
  • Be interesting. You all know how I feel about being bored.
  • Practice correct MLA citation.
Miss Berry (et al.): I forgot to mention this in class. For citations you'll want:

Furthermore, it is clear that "Poppa Smurf is a desperately lonely creature" (Bunglewort 97).
